Reminder of Entry deadlines for Stick, Seniors, U18

Stick

The PEI Stick Curling Championships, sponsored by Ferguson Logan Montague Funeral Home, for two-person teams with Open (any combination male/female) and Women’s divisions, is set for February 7-9 (mornings and afternoons) at the Cornwall Curling Club. Entry fee is $65 per team, and entry deadline is Jan. 17, 2017. Entries must be made online at PEICurling.com. Entries to-date may be viewed at the event website:

Defending champions are the Sterling Stratton/Barry Craswell Open Division team, and the Gloria Clarke/Ruth Stavert women’s duo.

The top four Open Division, and top two Women’s Division teams advance to the Maritime Stick Curling Championships, March 14-16 at Curl Moncton. The winning and runner-up Open Division teams are also invited to participate in the Canadian Open Stick Curling Championship, March 23-26 at the Bluenose Curling Club in New Glasgow NS. 

Seniors

The PEI Credit Unions Provincial Seniors Curling Championships, with men’s and women’s divisions for curlers 50 years of age and over, take place February 10-14 at the Charlottetown Curling Complex. Entry deadline is January 20, 2017, and entry fee is $190, plus $39 per player for Curling Canada participant fees. Entried to-date may be viewed at the Seniors championship website (see below)

Defending champions are the Rod MacDonald and Kim Dolan rinks from this year’s host curling facility.

This year’s winners will advance to the 2017 Everest Canadian Seniors Curling Championships, March 18-26 in Fredericton NB. The competition will be played at two facilities: the Capital Winter Club and Willie O’Ree Place, with the men’s and women’s finals both scheduled for the latter.

U18

The Provincial Under 18 Curling Championships, originally scheduled for the Crapaud Community Curling Club, will now be held at the Charlottetown Curling Complex. Dates remain the same – February 24-28. Entry deadline is February 3, 2017, and entry fee is $125 per team plus Curling Canada participant fee of $7.50 per player. Enter online at PEICurling.com

The winning U18 teams earn the right to compete in the inaugural Canadian Under 18 Boys and Girls Curling Championship, operated by Curling Canada, April 18 to 22 at Curl Moncton and on arena ice at Moncton’s Superior Propane Centre.
