And although all four team members are familiar with one another, this is the first year they have played together as a team.
“It’s a new team, but it doesn’t feel like a new team,” said MacPhee. “We have gotten along great, we’ve had a great season and we are looking forward to seeing what we can do at the Scotties.”
MacPhee, third stone Sarah Fullerton, second stone Meaghan Hughes and lead Michelle McQuaid earned P.E.I.’s berth at the national Scotties Tournament of Hearts in St. Catharines, Ont., from Feb. 18 to 26 by winning the provincial women’s curling championship in Summerside on Sunday.
“It’s always exciting getting a chance to go and play at the national stage,” said McQuaid. “I’m thrilled.”
Fullerton credited a strong team chemistry as a key to the rink’s success, which included a 4-1 (won-lost) showing at the provincial Scotties.
