(by Kevin Curley) PEI’s Adam Casey was at the Montague Curling Club last weekend to throw a few rocks to get practiced up in preparation for the 2017 Brier in St. John’s, Newfoundland, on March 4.
Mr. Casey is representing Saskatchewan and recently took over as skip. Teams allow one out-province-player.
His girlfriend, Tessa Roach, was on the winning team at the Pink Ladies Bonspiel on the weekend in Montague, and he took advantage of some ice time.
Mr. Casey said that at the end of last season his PEI team was parting ways.
“A big part of it for me is that all year there is a points race for the pre-trials in Summerside next November and I wanted to play on a team that was trying to achieve that. These guys gave me a call up, it seemed like a strange fit at first but the more I thought about it, the better I liked it,” Mr. Casey said, adding, “It took awhile but it’s starting to work good for us now.”
