It was Casey’s first game at the 2017 Home Hardware Road to the Roar Pre-Trials curling event.
After Casey stole a single in the first end at Summerside’s Eastlink Arena, the teams traded deuces until Murphy stole a point in the ninth to go up 7-5.
In the 10th, Murphy was content to leave two of his rocks unprotected on the top of the four-foot while he peeled off Casey guards.
By the time it got down to skip stones the two yellow Murphy rocks were still there, and Casey was frozen on top of one of them. With his first throw, Casey put a rock in front of the other yellow stone, leaving Murphy still counting two.
Murphy put up a long guard leaving Casey with a slim shot at nicking one of the yellows to take both out. The shot, although close, sailed harmlessly by, and Murphy improved to 1-1 (won-lost).
