The four Canada Games Training Teams – two boy’s and two girl’s, have been selected following Trials #1, which wrapped up this afternoon at the Silver Fox in Summerside. These teams will receive additional training and support in advance of Trials #2 in November at the Cornwall Curling Club, where the two teams that will represent PEI at the 2019 Canada Games in Red Deer AB, February 15 until March 3, 2019, will be selected.
The two boy’s teams are the Mitchell Schut team from Cornwall, and Charlottetown’s Chase MacMillan rink, while the Lauren Ferguson team from Cornwall, Crapaud, and Charlottetown, and the Sydney Howatt foursome from Cornwall are the girl’s Training Teams.
(Skip-lead L-R): Mitchell Schut, Nick Johnston, Liam Kelly, Colin MacKenzie, Bill Hope (coach)
(Skip-lead L-R): Chase MacMillan, Jack MacFadyen, Liam Barbrick, Davis Nicholson, Rob Roberts (coach)
Schut was the first to lock up a Training Team spot, winning his first three games in the three-team double round robin boy’s competition. He lost his fourth to MacMillan, who finished with a 2-1 record. A scheduled game between MacMillan and the Cruz Pineau team (0-3) was not required, as it would not have affected the outcome.

(L-R): Sierra Clyke (third), Sydney Howatt (skip) Meghan Sherren (second), Madelyn Cantwell (lead), A.J. Campbell (coach)

Clubmates Howatt and MacLean were tied with 2-1 records going into the last round, where they played each other, with Howatt winning 7-3. The Clara Jack and Emily Sanderson teams from Cornwall both finished with 1-3 records.
