P.E.I.’s Suzanne Birt rink is off to a winning start at the 2019 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Sydney, N.S.
The team from the Charlottetown Curling Complex defeated Newfoundland and Labrador’s representative, skipped by Kelli Sharpe, 14-3 on Saturday night.

McQuaid led both teams by curling a game-high 91 per cent.
Team Birt, coached by Mitchell O’Shea, will be back in action on Sunday against Casey Scheidegger at 2:30 p.m (feature game on TSN). Scheidegger won the wild-card game on Friday night.
