Here are photos from the Banquet on Monday evening at the Rodd Royalty for the Canadian Stick Curling Championship, which concludes today at the Cornwall Curling Club. Some of the banquet highlights include dancing by the Havenwood Dancers, fiddling by 12-year-old Lucas Hall, exercise and comedic stylings from Sterling Stratton, who also held a contest based on the names of the curlers in the event, followed by speeches from organizer Ernie Stavert, Cornwall Deputy Mayor Cory Stevenson, Cornwall Curlling Club President Gary O’Sullivan, Canadian Stick Curling President Harold Cook, and Bob Dunlop, from the Highland Curling Club in Regina SK, who will be the hosts for next year’s Championship. Ernie, PEI’s first Stick Curler, was also presented, by Sterling Stratton, who originally came to him with the idea, with a replica of Ernie’s first stick, a piece of PVC pipe with an elbow on the end.
