PEI’s Suzanne Birt, Lauren Ferguson, and Amanda Power rinks, and the Jill Brothers foursome from Halifax which includes PEI’s Erin Carmody at third stone, are among 20 teams, from the 3 Maritime Provinces, Ontario, and Scotland, competing for their share of a $14,000 purse, November 22-24 at the Windsor Curling Club in Windsor NS at the annual Tim Hortons Spitfire Arms Women’s Cashspiel.
Charlottetown’s Team Birt made it to the final last year, losing to Moncton’s Sylvie Robichaud (now Quillian) rink, who are back looking to defend this year. Cornwall’s Team Ferguson, despite playing without their third, were recent winners of the Oak Island Junior Cashspiel in Chester NS. The Amanda Power rink, curling out of the Charlottetown Curling Club, made it to the quarter-finals of the New Scotland Clothing Ladies Cashspiel earlier this season.
Other well-known names in the event include Colleen Jones, Mary-Anne Arsenault, Mary Mattatal, Julie McEvoy, and Colleen Pinkney.
