At the Canadian Juniors in Langley BC, PEI’s Tyler Smith junior men’s team from the Montague Curling Rink are now 5-0 and assured a Championship Pool spot with only one round robin game left, at 11 pm AT against Manitoba #2, following a 6-5 win over N. Ontario (2-2) and an 8-4 doubling of Nova Scotia (Owen Purcell, 3-2) on Monday. Their late game against Manitoba #2 on Sheet D is scheduled to be streamed live at Curling Canada’s YouTube page, which you can access by CLICKING HERE.
The Mackenzie Zacharias junior women’s squad from Manitoba, which includes former PEI junior champion Lauren Lenentine in the lead position, is also undefeated, at 4-0, following a 7-6 win over Nova Scotia (Taylour Stevens, 3-1) in their lone Monday game. Manitoba finishes the round robin against Curl Moncton’s Melodie Forsythe (3-2) at 6 pm, and Northern Ont. (1-3) at 11.
PEI’s Lauren Ferguson foursome from Cornwall lost their lone Monday game 9-7 to New Brunswick’s Forsythe, and are at 0-4, finishing round robin play with two Tuesday games, at 1 pm against Nunavut (0-4) and at 6 against Northern Ontario. Ferguson’s 1 pm game against Nunavut is scheduled to be streamed live at Curling Canada’s YouTube page, which you can access by CLICKING HERE.

Fourteen men’s and 14 women’s teams are competing for Canadian titles, separated into two seven-team pools per gender for the initial round-robin, followed by a Championship Round (top four in each pool) leading to the playoffs. The top team advances to its respective final on Sunday, Jan. 26, while the second- and third-place teams meet in a semifinal on Saturday, Jan. 25, to determine the other finalist.
TSN/RDS2 will carry complete live coverage of the semifinals (women at 11 a.m. [all times PT], men at 4 p.m.) on Jan. 25 and finals (women at 9 a.m., men at 2 p.m.).
