It was a great night for Brett Gallant at the Sport PEI Awards in Charlottetown, winning both the Cox & Palmer Senior Male Athlete of the Year and the Lieutenant Governor’s Award. Brett is in St. John’s NL preparing for The Brier, but sent along an acceptance video, with his mother Kathie accepting on his behalf. Gallant also won these same 2 awards in 2017.
Brett GalÂlant curled with Team Gushue and mixed douÂbles partÂner JoÂceÂlyn PeterÂman in 2019. Team Gushue finÂished the seaÂson ranked fourth afÂter the Brier, where GalÂlant was named a seÂcond team all-star. PeterÂman and GalÂlant won the CanaÂdian mixed douÂbles and took home silÂver at the world mixed douÂbles chamÂpiÂonship.
Wrestler Hannah Taylor won the Senior Female Athlete of the Year honours.
