Ella Lenentine rink makes big comeback to remain unbeaten and advance to PEI U16 “A” division Ch’ship game

The Ella Lenentine team from the Cornwall Curling Club were trailing 5-1 after five ends in their PEI U16 “A” section semi-final game this afternoon in Charlottetown against the Samuel Shaw rink from Montague, with the Shaw squad using their takeout ability to keep the house clean in the first half of the game, as well as picking up two single steals.

Team Lenentine took control after that, scoring a triple in the sixth end, stealing a deuce in the seventh, and a single point in the final end for a 7-5 win, and a ticket to the gold medal game at 1 pm Sunday. The Lenentine rink (3-0) will be facing the winner of the other “A” semi, at 9:30 am Sunday, between their clubmates the Clara Jack team, and the Brayden Snow foursome from Charlottetown, both at 2-0, with the loser of that game taking on Samuel Shaw in the Bronze medal game, also at 1 pm.

In the “B” division, the Sydney Carver rink from Montague (2-1) scored four deuces as they doubled the Mallory Rochford team (0-3) from Summerside’s Silver Fox 8-4 to advance to their 1 pm Sunday final. They’ll be taking on either the Nathaniel Shaw squad from Montague (1-1) or the Isaiah Dalton rink from Cornwall (0-2), who square off in the “B” semi at 9:30 Sunday morning, with 

The “C” division round-robin championship division game Saturday afternoon came down to a measure in an extra end, with Cornwall’s Luke Butler team (2-1) getting by the Madalyn Easter rink (0-3) from the Silver Fox by an 8-7 score. Easter now takes on clubmate Brock Rochford (0-2) in the second round-robin game at 9:30 am Sunday, while Rochford then plays Butler at 1 pm. The three teams will be then be ranked by their championship round records.
