Manitoba’s Team Zacharias, which includes New Dominion PEI’s Lauren Lenentine, won the $3200 total purse Atkins Curling Classic in Winnipeg on Sunday, beating Winnipeg’s Beth Peterson rink 9-2 in the semi-final, and winning the final 6-3 over Darcy Robertson, also of Winnipeg, by a 6-3 score. The Zacharias squad, who won a berth in the provincial Scotties women’s championship as a result of the victory, had lost to the Robertson team 7-6 at the Cargill Curling Centre Fall Classic the previous weekend at the Morris Curling Club. Robertson had previously won the Atkins Curling Classic in 2013, 2015, and 2017.
