Get to know PEI’s Lauren Ferguson, one of this year’s six $5000 Spirit of Sandra scholarship recipients

Lauren Ferguson Prince Edward Island

Lauren is an engineering student at Dalhousie University and an eight-time Prince Edward Island Curling Champion. She began curling in 2011 and fell in love with the game. In her competitive career, Lauren hopes to represent Canada on the world stage. She curls out of the Halifax Curling Club.

After a blood transfusion gave her late mother the strength to attend Lauren’s high school graduation ceremony, Lauren became a dedicated blood donor. She does this to honour her mother and to give another family a fighting chance at being at special milestone moments. That’s why she has so much respect for the Sandra Schmirler Foundation that gives babies a chance at all life has to offer.
