East St. Paul Manitoba’s Tracy Fleury squad stole a single in the final end to win the championship game of the 15-team Oakville Labour Day Classic at the Oakville Curling Club in Ontario 8-7 over PEI’s Suzanne Birt rink. Team Fleury goes home with $7000, while Team Birt, who were ahead 4-3 after 4 ends and 7-4 after six, will pocket $3500 for their finalist finish. The Birt foursome beat Manitoba’s Jennifer Jones rink in the semi-final round to advance to the championship match.
