Lenentine and MacFadyen win the 2024 PEI Junior Curling Championships

The Ella Lenentine rink from the Summerside and Cornwall Curling Clubs went undefeated to win the junior women’s division while the the Jack MacFadyen team from the same clubs finished the round robin in second place but won the winner takes all final game at the 2024 PEI Junior Curling Championships.  The two teams now advance to the 2024 New Holland Canadian U21 Men’s and Women’s Curling Championships to be played March 24-31 in Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo, Alberta.

Lenentine won the first of a possible two playoff games over the Sydney Carver team while Macfadyen won the final over the Isaiah Dalton rink.

Other members of the Lenentine rink are Makiya Noonan, Reid Hart, Erika Pater and coach, Robbie Lenentine.  Competing with the MacFadyen team are Keegan Warnell, Luke Butler, Anderson MacDougall and coach, David MacFadyen.

The finalists on the women’s side included, from the Montague Curling Club: Sydney Carver, Madalyn Easter, Michaela MacLean, Maddy MacDonald and coach Larry Richards and on the men’s side, from the Cornwall curling Club: Isaiah Dalton, Connor Bruce, Sheamus Herlihy, Nate MacRae and coach, Dennis Watts.

The True Sport and Asham Coach awards were handed out during the closing ceremonies with finalist skip, Sydney Carver, and Keegan Warnell from the MacFadyen team winning the True Sport Awards.  The Asham Coach Awards went to Larry Richards and David MacFadyen.

There were three junior women’s and three junior men’s teams that took part in this year’s championships.
