Kim Dolan foursome advances to championship round at Seniors

Friday evening at the Cornwall Curling Club, Charlottetown’s Kim Dolan earned a spot in the Page championship round at her first Credit Unions of PEI Provincial Seniors Curling Championships. Dolan, who is competing in both the Seniors and the Scotties Tournament of Hearts women’s championship this year, is playing in this event with Karen A. and Karen E. MacDonald, along with Yvonne Campbell. They defeated the Sandy Hope rink by a 12-4 score in the A section final of this triple knockout event, to grab the first spot in the Page championship round. Dolan scored a deuce in ends two and four, stole four points in the fifth end, and brought the game to a speedy conclusion in the eighth with another four. Hope was kept to single points in the other ends.
 In other women’s games, Shirley Berry got by Cornwall clubmate Diane MacKay by a 10-9 score to advance to the B section final against Sandy Hope, Saturday morning at 10. Defending champion Barb Currie rebounded from a 9-4 morning loss to Berry to defeat Jeanne Duffenais and her rink from Cornwall by a 9-2 score in the evening draw This puts Currie in the final of one of the two C divisions, at 7:30 pm Saturday, where she will play the loser of the B final between MacKay and Hope. June Moyaert of Montague plays Shirley Berry in the other C final, Saturday at 10 am.
In the Page championship round, Dolan will play the winner of the B section final, with the winner advancing directly to the championship game, while the loser will play the winner of a game between the two C winners in the semi-final, with that winner advancing to the final, set for Monday at 3 pm.
The women’s and men’s champions advance to the Canadian Seniors, March 21-28 at the Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club in Summerside.
