CALGARY — Island curling fans have seen it before, and P.E.I.’s Rod MacDonald is hoping he can do it at this year’s Brier.
MacDonald found his back to the wall after being thumped 11-4 by Alberta’s Kevin Martin in the Tuesday afternoon draw of the Canadian men’s curling championship.
For MacDonald and his team from Charlottetown the loss dropped them to 2-4, and with such a strong field at this year’s Brier, they can’t afford any more.
He is hoping he can put together a winning streak much like Robert Campbell did at the 1995 Brier in Halifax. Campbell dropped his first four games and went on a seven-game winning streak before losing a tie-breaker to Ontario’s Ed Werenich.
