The Mel Bernard rink of the host Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club stole three points in the ninth end on their way to a 9-6 victory over Ontario’s Bruce Delaney foursome to win their opening game at the Canadian Seniors in Summerside.

Cornwall’s Shirley Berry team lost their opener 8-5 over Ontario’s Cheryl McBain squad. The Island rink lead 5-4 after eight ends, but the Ontario team took four in the 9th for a three point lead.

The Island rinks play again at 4:30, against Alberta.
