Fitzner-Leblanc defeats Lecocq in TSA Classic Final

The Halifax Mayflower Curling Club rink of Ian Fitzner-Leblanc, Stuart MacLean, Kent Smith, and Philip Crowell beat the defending champion Marc Lecocq team from New Brunswick by an 8-6 score this afternoon to win the Best Western – TSA Curling Classic at the Thistle St. Andrews Curling Club in Saint John NB. Other members of the Lecocq foursome are Grant Odishaw, Rick Perron, and Jeff Lacey.

Lecocq beat Charlottetown’s Robert Campbell rink, while Fitzner-Leblanc defeated Chad Stevens of New Brunswick in semi-final play. On Sunday morning, Campbell beat  Charlottetown clubmate John Likely in the quarter-finals to advance to the semis. Scores for these games were not available. Playing with Robert Campbell were Steve Burgess, Jamie Newson, and Rob Doherty, while Phil Gorveatt, Mark Butler, and Mike Dillon round out the Likely squad.

The other PEI rink in the event, which includes Tyler MacKenzie at skip, along with Steve van Ouwerkerk, Lincoln Peters, and Nick van Ouwerkerk, finished round robin play with a 1-4 win-loss record, while Likely and Campbell advanced to the playoff round with 4-1 records.
