PEI’s Suzanne Birt rink are the defending champions at the Lady Monctonian, which wraps up today at Curling Beausejour in Moncton. The team, which includes third Shelly Bradley, second Leslie MacDougall, and lead Stefanie Clark, with coach Charlie Sullivan, finished round-robin play with a 3-2 win-loss record, and are the only Island rink to advance to the quarter-final round, which gets underway at 8:30 this morning.
The Rebecca Jean MacPhee rink also went 3-2, while the other PEI teams, skipped by Donna Butler, Kathy O’Rourke, and Anita Casey, did not manage to pick up a win.
In the quarter-finals, Mary Ann Arsenault of Halifax plays Melissa Adams of New Brunswick, Andrea Kelly of NB faces Jill Mouzar of Halifax, Birt takes on Colleen Pinkney of Truro, and Sylvie Robichaud from the host club faces Ashley Howard, also from Moncton. The semi-final round is at 11:30, with the final being played at 2:30 this afternoon.
