Phyllis Stretch wins 2010 Marion Dockendorff award

The Marion Dockendorff award is presented annually at the PEI Scotties Tournament of Hearts banquet to a woman who has made contributions to the sport of curling.

This year’s winner was Phyllis Stretch of the Crapaud Community Curling Club. Besides being an avid curler who participates in all club bonspiels, she has been a member of the club’s Board of Directors for a number of years, and has been their junior curling coordinator for the past four years. She is also on the organizing committee for the club’s annual November craft fair, coaches Community School curling, and helps with club cleaning and cooking. She also participates in stick curling events at other clubs.

Outside of curling, she has five grown children, and was a foster parent for fifteen years.  She was head of the South Shore St. John’s Ambulance brigade for over a decade, and has been a PEI Women’s Institute member for more than 20 years.
