PEICA introduces more ways to keep up to date

The PEI Curling Association, through its PEICurling.com website, has been providing coverage of curling news and results on PEI since the 1999-2000 season, and our website continues to be extremely popular, with the recent PEI Scotties event drawing over 90,000 page views. We realize, however,  that many curling fans are using new display devices such as smartphones (e.g. iPhone),  and new social networking software tools to keep up to date. To meet this need, we are introducing new ways to access our PEI curling news, via Facebook, Twitter, Email, SMS Text Messaging, RSS Syndication, and large screen displays in curling clubs.

Buttons have been added on the PEICurling.com home page to allow you to access our curling news on Facebook and Twitter, to sign up for our Email list, and to add our news to your RSS Reader  (e.g. Google News Reader) or your website via  RSS Syndication.

Text messaging

SMS Text messaging is available as an option on Facebook. As well, you can subscribe your cell phone to receive  our curling news as text messages by using our Email list link, and typing in your ten digit cell phone number followed by one of the following suffixes, depending on your carrier (e.g. [email protected]):
@txt.bell.ca (Bell and Bell Aliant), @pcs.rogers.com (Rogers, and Videotron Cellular), @msg.telus.com (Telus), @fido.ca (Fido), @vmobile.ca (Virgin Mobile), @mobiletxt.ca (PC Mobile), @msg.koodomobile.com (Koodo), or @sms.sasktel.com (SaskTel). Note that these addresses, and availability of the email to text service, are subject to change. Contact your carrier if you have problems. Note also that SMS text messages are truncated to 140 characters, and that standard text messaging rates apply.

On-site large screen displays

Our PEI curling news RSS feed is now displayed on the large screen at the Charlottetown Curling Club, using the ScreenScape Internet-based digital signage solution from Charlottetown’s ScreenScape Networks, founded by curler Mark Hemphill.
You can view a copy of that  display at: ccc.screenscape.net.
For more information on setting up a ScreenScape display at your venue, visit www.screenscape.net.
