CHELYABINSK, Russia – Colleen Pinkney of Truro, N.S., opened the 2010 world senior curling championships with two lopsided victories on Sunday.
Pinkney, whose rink includes Wendy Currie, Karen Hennigar and Susan Creelman, opened with a 14-0 victory over Italy’s Susanne Carrera. Pinkney scored six on the first end and then stole deuces on each of the second, third, fourth and sixth ends to secure the win. Pinkney followed that with a 10-5 victory over Sweden’s Ingrid Meldahl in the late draw. Pinkney is set to meet Switzerland’s Renate Nedkoff on Monday.
