Although the Saskatchewan men and Alberta women were the champions on the ice at The Dominion Curling Club Championship, November 23-28 at the Charlottetown and Cornwall curling clubs, the big winners off the ice were the PEI branch of the Canadian Paraplegic Association (CPA PEI), the charity of choice for the many fundraising activities during the event, including 50X50 draws, a silent auction, raffles,  a “pick the winners” pool, a Grey Cup pool, various team fundraisers, and a hot dog sale.

Shelagh Paul, Vice President, Corporate Communications at event sponsors The Dominion of Canada General Insurance Company, presented CPA PEI with a cheque for $30,000 at the closing banquet on Sunday night. On hand from CPA PEI were Board of Directors President Myrtle Jenkins-Smith, Executive Director Paul Cudmore, and Evan MacKinnon.
