New rules to speed up play in effect for PEI Scotties

The CCA and the PEICA have instituted a number of revised rules, designed to speed up event play. These rules are in effect for the PEI Scotties, which begins on Thursday in Cornwall, and include:

Game Time Operation (page 36) – Rule 8(5): If a team appears to be wasting time, the Umpire will determine if there is an unreasonable delay, followed by a warning and then, allowing the offending team forty-five (45) seconds to put the stone in play.

Coaches Time – When the time out is called the clock will be stopped for 20 seconds to allow the coach to access the team. Immediately following the 20 second stopped time, the clock will begin and the 60 second “coach time” will start. The team will be informed when the coach time is over. Both teams are allowed the coach time but the team who did not call the coach time can only access their team at the home end.
Teams have been provided with a list of the new changes, and are requested to become familiar with the revised rules before start of play.
