The KFC provincial age 12 and Under curling championships wrapped up Sunday afternoon at the Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club in Summerside, with Cornwall’s Donald DeWolfe rink winning the boys section, and the Kaleigh MacKay team from the host club taking the girls.

DeWolfe and his team of Carter Worth, Avery Wells, and Jack Robinson, with alternate Cameron MacKay, and coaches Deb DelValle and Geoff Scutt, edged the Cameron Jenkins rink of Charlottetown 3-2 in the low-scoring boys final, aided by a second end steal. Jenkins finished round robin play in first place with a 3-1 win-loss record, while DeWolfe was tied with two Montague teams. skipped by Marshall Ryan and John Campbell, at 2-2. forcing tiebreakers, with Ryan beating Campbell 6-4, and DeWolfe stealing four points in two separate ends in an 11-2 win over Ryan to advance to the final. Other members of the runner-up Jenkins team are Spencer Stetson, Jonathan Cann, and Andrew Stetson, with coach Robert Jenkins.

In the girl’s section, the Sarah Parsons rink from Crapaud finished first in the round robin with a 5-1 win-loss record to advance to the final game. The Kaleigh MacKay team from the host Silver Fox club, and the Katie Reid team from Charlottetown finished with identical 3-3 win-loss records, and squared off in a tiebreaker, with MacKay winning 8-7 in an extra end to advance to the final, where they beat the Parsons team 5-3, stealing a deuce in end three and a single in the final (sixth) end en route to the win. Other members of the winning MacKay team are Madelaine Arsenault, Alyssa Wright, and Abbie MacFadyen, with coach Shelley MacFadyen. Rounding out the runner-up Sarah Parsons team are Kaleigh Peters, Laurel Parsons, and Sierra Clyke, with coaches Dario Zannier and Phyllis Stretch.
Four girls and five boys teams took part in the championship.
