LONDON, Ont. — Kevin Martin’s unbeaten streak at the Tim Hortons Brier came to a crashing end Monday night.

Martin lost 9-4 in just eight ends to Brad Gushue of Newfoundland and Labrador, ending a streak of 30 consecutive wins by the Alberta skip at the Canadian men’s curling championship. Alberta’s winning streak extended through the 2008 and 2009 Briers. Martin hadn’t been defeated at the Brier since losing a 3-4 Page playoff game to Manitoba’s Jeff Stoughton in 2007.
