Alberta is the only undefeated team after six draws at the 45th Canadian Postal Employees Curling Classic, being played at New Brunswick’s Miramichi Curling Club. Nova Scotia is next at 5-1. Manitoba and Northern Ontario are 4-2, while BC, NB, Ontario, and Saskatchewan are all at 3-3. PEI, represented again this year by the Bobby Cameron rink, lost both their games today, 13-7 to Northern Ontario, and 9-3 to leader Alberta to slip to 2-4. Other members of the Island team, who play BC and Sask. on Wednesday, are Eldon Kilbride, Mike Bernard, and Regan Kenny.
On Sunday, PEI rink stole singles in ends eight and nine on the way to beating Quebec 9-7 in the afternoon, but lost the evening draw 10-2 to Manitoba, shaking hands early after giving up five points in the sixth end.
On Monday morning, PEI, down 5-0 after two ends, came back to double the Newfoundland/Labrador team in a 14-7 shootout, following a triple in end seven with stolen two and three point ends in eight and nine on the way to the win. In the afternoon, PEI lost 9-3 to Nova Scotia, giving up six points in a disastrous fourth end.
The finals go Saturday at 1:30 pm.
