Sask., BC lead Cdn. Firefighters with 1 loss, PEI, Quebec next at 3-2

PEI’s Gordon MacFadyen rink is in good shape at the Canadian Firefighters Curling Championship in Calgary, picking up a win and a loss today to go to a 3-2 win-loss record, tied with Quebec, and just behind the leaders, Saskatchewan, who are 5-1, and British Columbia, at 4-1.

In action Tuesday, the Island squad shaded Nova Scotia 7-6 in the morning draw, leading 6-2 after seven ends. The Bluenosers tied the game with a pair of deuces in ends eight and nine, but MacFadyen had hammer coming home and scored a single for the win.

In the afternoon match, BC scored two triples in a 10-4 win over PEI, while the other leader, Saskatchewan, walloped Southern Ontario 11-3.  PEI plays the other team with two losses, Quebec, on Wednesday morning, and takes on Alberta (2-3) in the afternoon.
