Playoffs set at Canadian Firefighters. PEI finishes at 4-6.

Round robin play wrapped up Thursday at the 52nd  Canadian Firefighters Curling Championship in Calgary, with PEI’s Gordon MacFadyen rink finishing out of the playoffs, with a 4-6 win-loss record, splitting their last two games – losing 9-2 to Ontario, but rallying for a last end triple to beat New Brunswick 8-6.

Saskatchewan finished atop the standings with a 9-1 win-loss record, followed by BC at 8-2. These rinks advance to the Page 1-2 game. Alberta is next at 7-3 and advances to the Page 3-4. The final playoff spot in the Page 3-4 will be determined by tiebreakers, with the Northwest Territories, Quebec, and Southern Ontario all finishing round robin play at 5-5. NWT plays Quebec at 8 this morning, with the winner facing Southern Ontario at noon, and the Page games following at 3 pm.

The winner of the Page 1-2 advances directly to the final, with the loser taking on the winner of the Page 3-4 in the semi-final.

The semi-final is Saturday at 9, with the final at 1 pm (all times Mountain).
