Glenn Howard held off a pesky John Epping to win the GP Car and Home World Cup of Curling event Sunday in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.

Howard, of Coldwater, Ont., jumped out to an early lead en route to a 6-4 victory over Toronto’s Epping.

The competition was the first leg of the Capital One Grand Slam of Curling series.

The victory wasn’t celebrated by all in the Howard family as son Scott just happens to be Epping’s second.

The win, however, did extend Howard’s winning streak to five matches.

Epping was looking to score his second upset of the tournament. He defeated Olympic champion Kevin Martin in the semifinal on Saturday.
