PEI teams split openers at The Dominion

PEI rinks had the opening round bye at The Dominion Curling Club Championship in Richmond BC, but saw action against the Quebec teams in round two, with Montague’s Donald Clarey foursome stealing the last two ends to edge the Quebecers 6-5, while Cornwall’s Lorianne Davies rink fell victim to a stolen deuce in end seven, losing their game by a 6-4 score. The PEI teams play Nunavut and Saskatchewan today. Sask. are 2-0 in the men’s section.

At the opening ceremonies, Richmond Mayor Malcolm Brodie joined an all-star lineup of curlers for the throwing of the official “first rock”. Paralympic and Canadian Wheelchair champion Daryl Neighbour threw  the rock, with The
Dominion Branding Coordinator Leigh Armstrong holding the broom.
