Clarey rink ends play at The Dominion with 2-4 record

PEI’s Donald Clarey rink (2-4)  lost a close 7-6 match to Newfoundland and Labrador in the final round robin draw of The Dominion Curling Club Championship in Richmond BC. PEI stole three consecutive ends to lead 6-4 coming home, but Clarey’s final rock of the event “picked” and the Newfoundlanders and Labradorians took three in the final end for the win, which puts the NL team into the semi-finals with a 5-1 record. Other men’s scores: QC (5) vs NS (4), ON (7) vs SK (4), BC (7) vs NO (8),  AB (6) vs MB (1), and  NB (6) vs NT (4).

Ontario finished first , with a spotless 6-0 record. Alberta joins NL at 5-1, with Northern Ontario, Saskatchewan and Manitoba all at 4-2.

Friday night tiebreakers, at midnight PEI time, see Quebec play Sask. on the women’s side, and Northern Ont. take on Manitoba on the men’s.

The following teams have already advanced to the Saturday semi-finals

Women: Manitoba, Northern Ontario, and Ontario.
Men: Alberta, Ontario, Newfoundland and Labrador.
