Burgess and MacIntosh win CFB Halifax Cashspiels, Gallant quarter-finalist

The Peter Burgess and Kelly MacIntosh rinks from Nova Scotia won the Propeller Brewing Company men’s and SKYY Vodka women’s cashspiels, by winning their respective finals this afternoon at the CFB Halifax Curling Club. Burgess beat Chad Stevens 7-4  in the semi-finals, and then recorded another 7-4 victory, over Team Suburu Halifax, skipped by Doug MacKenzie, in the final. MacIntosh downed Tanya Hilliard 9-2 in the semis, and Colleen Jones, by a 5-2 score, in the final.

PEI’s Brett Gallant rink lost 7-4 to eventual winner Burgess in the quarter-finals, and went home with $600. Gallant finished round robin play with a 3-1 win-loss record in his pool, while Burgess went 4-0.

The other PEI team at the event, the Sarah Fullerton rink, PEI’s reigning Junior Women’s champs, went 0-3 in women’s round robin play.
