PEICA holding Junior Curling Camp, Feb. 12 in Montague

A Learn to Curl, Skills Development and Talent Identification Junior Curling Camp will be held at the Montague Curling Club on Sunday February 12, and is open to male and female PEI junior curlers from novice to intermediate level, focusing on those with at least one year’s experience, and between 10 and 15 years of age.

Emphasis will be on Learning, Skills Development, Fun, and Talent Identification. Registration is from 8:30 to 9 am, with on ice and classroom sessions from 9 am until 5 pm.

The cost is $100.00 per team including coach, or $25.00 per individual – Space is limited to 32 participants and selection will be on a first-come first-paid basis. Morning & afternoon nutrition breaks will be provided.

DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION:
Cheque (payable to PEI Curling Association) & registration form must be received by February 8.

CAMP CONTENT:
• On-Ice topics will include
– Technical Skills (Stance, Balance, Timing, Line of Delivery)
– Technical Skills (Grip, Turns, Release, Rotation)
– Drills for skill development
– Brushing Drills & Skills, Communication
– Shot selection
– A short game

• Off-Ice topics will include:
– Technical Review,
– Safety, Rules & Etiquette
– Team Roles & Responsibilities, Goal Setting,
– Basic Strategy
– Importance of Warm Up & Cool Down
