Holland College, represented by the men’s team of Christian Tolusso (skip), Alex Sutherland (3rd), Taylor McInnis (2nd), Patrick Moore (lead), and Angela Hodgson (coach) ended play today with a 3-4 win-loss record at the Canadian College Invitational Curling Championships, hosted by Fleming College, and taking place at the Peterborough Curling Club. In today’s games, the Island rink lost 6-5 in an extra end to Fanshawe, and 9-5 to the University of Alberta (Augustana Campus).

Fanshawe finished first in the men’s section with a 7-0 record, followed by Red Deer and U of A (Augustana) at 5-2. Fanshawe was also first in the women’s division, at 6-1, followed by the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) from Edmonton, and the Grand Prairie Regional College, both at 5-2. The second and third place teams square off in the semi-finals, Saturday at noon, with the semi-final winners taking on the first place team in the 4 pm finals (all times Eastern).
Eight men’s and eight women’s rinks took part, from Ontario, Alberta, and PEI. The college curling championships have been brought back this year after a break of close to 20 years.
