Island squad splits Monday games to improve to 1-3 at Postal Curling Ch’ships

At the 46th Canadian Postal Employees Curling Classic at the Cloverdale Curling Club in Surrey BC.  PEI, represented again this year by the rink of Bob Cameron (skip), Eldon Kilbride (3rd), Regan Kenny (2nd) and Mike Bernard (lead), split their Monday games to improve their win-loss record to 1-3, losing 9-4 to New Brunswick, and scoring a deuce in the final end to shade Ontario 7-6.

The Island squad play Newfoundland and Labrador at 9:30 this morning, and unbeaten Saskatchewan at 2:30 this afternoon BC time.

Alberta is tied with Sask. atop the standings at 3-0, followed by Northern Ontario and last year’s champions, the Brent MacDougall team from Nova Scotia, at 3-1. New Brunswick and BC are 2-2, Quebec and Newfoundland and Labrador are 1-2, while Ontario and PEI are 1-3, and Manitoba is 0-4.

Round robin play continues with games at 9:30 am and 2 pm through Wednesday, Thursday play at 2 and 7 pm, and the final round robin draw Friday April 6 at 9:30 am. Tiebreakers, if needed, and the Page playoffs go later on Friday, with the semi-finals Saturday at 9 am, and the finals following at 1:30 pm (all times local-add 4 hours for PEI time).
