SUMMERSIDE – There is no room for error or unexpected problems for the ice-making crew preparing EastLink Arena for the Capital One Grand Slam of Curling Players’ Championship.

“It’s (schedule) a little on the tight side,” admitted head ice-maker Mark Shurek from Stonewall, Man. “It would have been nice to have an extra day, but due to circumstances we have less time (than normal). We’ll make it happen.”

Ice-maker Mark Shurek is in Summerside this week to install the curling ice for the Capital One Grand Slam of Curling Players’ Championship.

Shurek and the crew could not begin installing curling ice until Sunday at 5 a.m., due to the Bryan Adams concert Saturday night.

Teams are scheduled to practice Tuesday afternoon, with the first women’s draw that evening at 7.

“Everything has to go pretty smooth,” added Shurek.
