Nedohin rink controls own fate in securing an Olympic Trials berth

The Heather Nedohin rink can secure a berth in the Canadian Olympic Curling Trials in Winnipeg, Man., in December 2013 with a strong showing in the season-ending event.

“We are currently 23 points ahead of Sherry Middaugh, and Chelsea Carey and Cathy Overton (Clapham) are right there behind us as well,” said Nedohin, whose husband, Dave, won four Brier championships as part of the Randy Ferbey rink.

“There are enough points (still available); mathematically, anything is still a possibility.

“We’re very excited to know we are in a good position. Things are in our control, and we have to play well.”

Nedohin, who is accustomed to facing stiff competition, will look to get off to a strong start in Tuesday’s opening draw at 7 p.m.
