Getting to know the PEI women’s team for the 2012 The Dominion Curling Club Championship

The next national The Dominion Curling club Championship, Canada’s first-ever national championship for club curlers, will take place from November 19 to 24 at the Scarboro Golf & Country Club in Scaborough, Ontario. PEI will be represented by the winners of the provincial The Dominion championships, held in March, the Alan Inman rink from the Crapaud Community Curling Club, and the Nola Murphy team from the Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club in Summerside. On their Facebook page, The Dominion is featuring a different provincial team each week. This week is the turn for the Nola Murphy team. Here is the entry:

Team of the Week – PEI Women

The Prince Edward Island women’s team hails from the Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club in Summerside, PEI. The team is comprised of four friends: Nola Murphy (Skip), Donna Arsenault (Vice), Paulette Richard (Second), and Elspeth Carmody (Lead). The women met through the game, at the Silver Fox Curling Club.

This team has one ritual, which they found served them well at Provincial Playdowns: always take the first practice!

Alongside curlers, family members, and friends involved in this year’s The Dominion Curling Club Championship, the PEI women are raising funds for the Canadian Paraplegic Association’s Ontario Chapter. They will be bringing gifts from Summerside for the silent auction that will be held during the Championship.

How would the team describe themselves? Playfully, they said “as winners!”

The PEI women are most looking forward to representing their province on the national stage.

Best of luck to the team; we can’t wait to see you in Scarborough!
