IE 7 and 8 problems resolved (we hope)

We’ve made some changes, and our testing shows that PEICurling.com is now working properly again with the older Internet Explorer versions, 7 and 8 (we really can’t support any versions older than that). A new release of the WordPress theme we are using has fixed some formatting problems, and has also been tested by the vendor for compatibility with the new IE 10, which comes with Windows 8. The latest theme version also offers minor improvements to our smartphone and tablet “mobile” integration.

We have had to swap out our “plug-in” that lets you share pages and posts with Facebook and a variety of other social media tools, for a different one, as it was generating errors due to a Facebook bug that only affects the older IE versions. We also had to remove our “Facebook Like” box, as it was causing similar problems (hopefully we can find another one that works).

Testing still shows a minor error in IE 7 and 8 when displaying our events calendar on the Events page – an error is generated, but clicking on it brings things back to normal. The calendar software is using a “jQuery” selector statement that is not valid in the older IE versions, and we will report it to the Calendar software vendor for possible repair.

Please let me know if you are still having any problems (try deleting your browser cache, first), and thanks for your patience!

By the way, if you want to avoid problems on other websites, I would still recommend that you download a different browser (Firefox, Chrome, Safari), as IE continues to be the browser that has the most compatibility problems.
