Curl PEI to hold inaugural Provincial Mixed Doubles Championship

Curl PEI will be hosting its first Provincial Mixed Doubles Curling Championship January 31-Feb. 3 at the Montague Curling Club. Teams must be made up of one (1) male and one (1) female player. Entry deadline for the provincial event  is December 30. Entry fee is $100 per two person team (no CCA competitor fee needed). Entries must be made online at PEICurling.com. Click to enter.

The winning team will represent PEI at the Mixed Doubles Curling Trials in Leduc, Alberta March 14-17, 2013. Teams are responsible for their own travel and accommodations as well as the entry fee of  $400 per team. The entry fees collected will be returned in full as prize money. A host hotel with a preferred rate will be announced by January 1, 2013, however, choice of accommodations is up to the individual teams. Curl PEI will apply for a “team grant”  from the provincial government to assist with travel expenses. Coaches are welcome and will have access to the field of play for practices and time-outs. However, there will not be a spare or alternate pool nor will alternates be allowed to compete.

The winning team from the national event will advance to the World Mixed Doubles event in Fredericton New Brunswick April 13-20.
