Gushue, Howard remain perfect at the Canadian Open (CP/Sportsnet)

(THE CANADIAN PRESS) KELOWNA, B.C. — Brad Gushue and Glen Howard both improved to 3-0 on Thursday in the fifth draw of the Canadian Open of Curling.

Gushue, from St. John’s, N.L. [with PEI natives Adam Casey and Brett Gallant on the team], led his rink past Saskatoon’s Steve Laycock (1-2) in dominating fashion, scoring two points in the final frame for a 7-3 victory in seven ends.

Howard, representing Coldwater, Ont., downed Winnipeg’s William Lyburn (0-3) 8-2 in just six ends.
