Fredericton NB gearing up for World Seniors and Mixed Doubles events

The new Grant-Harvey Centre in Fredericton New Brunswick will be the site of the World Senior Men’s and Women’s Curling Championships and the World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship, April 13-20, 2013. Given the number of countries and athletes competing, it is expected to be one of the largest international curling events ever held.

“We’re very excited about hosting this event, and are especially pleased to welcome Cox and Palmer as our title sponsor,” says Local Organizing Committee Chair Wayne Tallon. “We’re also happy to announce tournament passes are now on sale. Interest has been building in recent months and weeks, and now people will be able to secure their place at this premier curling event. I know a lot of people are hoping Santa will leave some passes in their stocking this Christmas.”

Pricing for the full tournament pass is $99 plus HST plus service fee, or $114 total. Passes can be purchased online at www.fcc1854.com/2013worlds.

The Local Organizing Committee also invites anyone interested in volunteering to get involved. “We already have more than 100 people on board, but you can never have too many,” says Tallon. “Fredericton is putting on a world-class event, and we’re going to need scorers, drivers, security… there are a variety of ways people can contribute. In the end, it will be the community effort that will make this so successful and enjoyable for everyone involved.”
