Jamie Murphy rink wins Atlantic Curling Tour Championship – no PEI teams advance to money round

The Jamie Murphy rink from Nova Scotia scored a deuce in the final end for a 4-3 win over Zach Eldridge and his New Brunswick foursome this afternoon to win the Atlantic Curling Tour Championship in Moncton. Eldridge stole the last end to edge Peter Burgess of NS 4-3 in the noon semi-finals, while Murphy downed Jason Vaughan of NB 7-11.

Murphy and his team pocket $2400 for the win, while Eldridge went home with $1400. Burgess and Vaughan each won $1200, while the remaining quarter-finalists – Stuart Thompson (NS), James Grattan (NB), Marc Lecocq (NB), and Terry Odishaw (NB) each received $1000.

None of the three Island rinks entered ā€“ skipped by Mike Gaudet, Rod MacDonald, and Jamie Newson, made it to the money round.

Gaudet finished with a 2-1 win-loss record in his round robin pool, but lost 6-4 to eventual winner Murphy in a tiebreaker. MacDonald and Newson both went 1-2 in their pool, with Newson beating MacDonald 6-2 in their encounter.
