KINGSTON, ONT. — Prince Edward Island recorded its third straight victory, but had to work some overtime magic to get it Tuesday afternoon at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts at the K-Rock Centre.
Suzanne Birt and her Charlottetown Curling Complex rink of Shelly Bradley, Sarah Fullerton and Leslie MacDougall stole two points in an extra end to beat Quebec, skipped by Allison Ross, by an 8-6 score.
Ross was forced to draw near the four foot with her time clock running out and came up heavy.
The P.E.I. victory, on the heels of two straight 12-7 wins, improved the team’s record to 3-3.
The rink now sits alone in sixth place but tied for fifth in the win column with B.C., which played its game in hand late Tuesday night.
P.E.I. skip Suzanne Birt calls to her sweepers during Tuesday’s game against Quebec at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Kingston, Ont.
“We had a strong finish to the game and it’s always good to get that W, even when you kind of struggle throughout the game, making just a few half shots,” Birt said right after the dramatic win. “It was good to pull it out.”
