The final provincial curling championship of the season, the Advantage Communications / Curl PEI Junior Mixed, for teams of two male and two female curlers playing alternating positions, gets underway on Friday afternoon at the Charlottetown Curling Complex, and wraps up with the 12 noon Sunday final. Two rinks, skipped by Cody Dixon of the Montague Curling Club, and Kyle Holland, with a combined Charlottetown Curling Complex/Cornwall Curling Club team, are entered in the Under 21 Division, while three rinks, the Owen Collier team from Montague, the James Dalton foursome from the Silver Fox Curling & Yacht Club and the Cornwall Curling Club, and the Tyler Smith rink from the Crapaud Community and Montague clubs are entered in the Under 16 Division. Last year’s winners are not entered this year, so there will be new champions.

The two team Under 21 division will play a best 3 out of five series, while the three team Under 16?s will play a double round robin, with the top two teams advancing to the sudden-death final. In the event that one team goes through the double round robin undefeated, they will be declared the winner, and the final will not be played. All games in both divisons are eight ends.

The Under 21 Dixon vs Holland best of 5 games will go at 4 and 7:30 pm Friday, 2 pm Saturday, and, if necessary, 6:30 pm Saturday, and  noon Sunday.

The Under 16 double round robin schedule is as follows:

12:30 pm Friday: Collier vs Dalton
4 pm Friday: Smith vs Collier
7:30 pm Friday: Smith vs Dalton
10 am Saturday: Collier vs Dalton
2 pm Saturday: Smith vs Collier
6:30 pm Saturday: Smith vs Dalton

If a tiebreaker is needed, it will go at 8:30 am Sunday

If one team goes through the double round robin undefeated, they will be declared the champion. Otherwise, the top two teams will square off in the final, at 12 noon Sunday.
