PEI men win opening draw at Canadian Seniors (Journal Pioneer)

SUMMERSIDE – P.E.I.’s Rod MacDonald rink from Charlottetown came back from a 5 to 1 deficit to take their opening round match against the Wade White Alberta foursome in the 2013 Canadian Seniors Curling Championships at the Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club.

MacDonald along with third, John Likely, second Mark O’Rourke and lead, Peter MacDonald opened the scoring with one in the first end but White and third Doug McLennan, second Dan Halowaychuk and lead, George Parson came back with two in the second end.

Nothing seemed to be working for the P.E.I. team over the first four ends. The Alberta rink stole in the third and one in the fourth end to build a 5-1 edge.

The game change in the fifth end with P.E.I. taking out the Alberta stone to score and pull within one.

P.E.I. stole a point in the sixth end to tie the game but White and his Alberta rink fought back with 2 in the seventh.

MacDonald drew for a single in the eight end before setting up the win in the ninth.
