Both the Under 16 and Under 21 divisions of the Advantage Communications / Curl PEI Junior Mixed Curling Championships, being played at the Charlottetown Curling Complex, have come down to final games between tied teams. The finals, originally scheduled for 12 noon on Sunday, have been advanced to 11 am.

Double round robin play wrapped up Saturday evening in the three-team Under 16 division, with both the Tyler Smith rink from the Crapaud and Montague curling clubs, and the James Dalton foursome from the Silver Fox Curling & Yacht Club and the Cornwall Curling Club finishing with 3-1 win-loss records. These two teams will square off in the 11 am Sunday final. The third team in the divison, skipped by Montague’s Owen Collier, did not pick a win in the event. In Saturday play, both Smith and Dalton chalked up wins over Collier, while Dalton stole a single in the final end to edge Smith and hand him his first loss, by a 5-4 score, to force a final game (according to the rules, had Smith won, and gone undefeated in the double round robin, he would have been declared the winner, and the final would not have been played).  Smith beat Dalton 13-2 in their previous encounter on Friday.

The best of five series between the two Under 21 teams, skipped by Cody Dixon of Montague, and Kyle Holland with his combined Charlottetown/Cornwall team, is also tied, at 2-all, and will go to a sudden-death fifth game, Sunday at 11 am. In Saturday afternoon action, Dixon beat Holland 8-2, aided by a stolen deuce in end four and a single in five. Holland rebounded in the evening draw, scoring a triple in the 5th, and stealing the final end for a 7-5 win over Dixon.
