AGM: George Koke returns as Curl PEI President for 3rd year

Curl PEI held its Annual General Meeting this evening at the Silver Fox Curling & Yacht Club in Summerside. Among the changes for next season was the change of both the Provincial Mixed and Credit Unions of PEI Senior Men’s and Women’s championship events from 10 to 8 ends. The national events that these championships lead to are still 10 ends in length, although there are proposals in the works that may move them to 8. Last year’s provincial entries were consulted, and the majority agreed with the change.

Another change was with the youngest division, the KFC Under 13. It was decided to have open entry – any combination of boys and girls on a team, instead of the current separate boys and girls divisions. The U13 funspiel, which is designed for curlers in the age category who are just beginning the sport, will remain as well. The provincial Masters, for curlers age 60 and over, will move to a weekend event in the 2014-2015 season.

The venues and dates for next season’s provincial championships were approved.
